ADOPTION INFO
Temperament and Size
I prioritize breeding for health, structure, and temperament, and strive to socialize my kittens with various everyday household experiences like loud noises, vacuuming, and being around children and water. However, it's important to note that temperament and size cannot be guaranteed, as every living creature develops in their own unique way. Kittens will have their own personalities and behaviors, and not all of them will necessarily enjoy being held or receiving affection. Although I aim to socialize all kittens to enjoy human interaction, it's important for new owners to continue socializing their kitten when they bring them home to help them adjust to their new surroundings.
Veterinary Care
We ensure that all kittens receive proper veterinary care, including age-appropriate FVRCP vaccination, deworming, and microchipping. At the time of pickup, we will register the microchip on your behalf to help ensure your kitten's safety and wellbeing.
Food
Upon adoption, you will receive two containers of the food that your kitten is accustomed to and has been eating. It is a species-specific raw diet that is well-balanced and provides your kitten with the necessary nutrients. If you choose to switch to a different type of food, it's important to do so gradually to avoid upsetting your kitten's digestive system. Kittens need to be fed wet food at least three times a day to ensure they receive sufficient moisture. For the first 18 months of their life, Maine Coon kittens require high-protein free-choice kitten food due to their rapid growth. While a homemade raw diet is not mandatory, it's an option that we can help you with if you're interested. Dry food is not recommended as it contains high levels of carbs that cats cannot digest, leading to dehydration and kidney problems later in life. Instead, we suggest pre-made raw diets such as Small Batch, Darwin Pet, and My Pet Carnivore, or wet canned food such as Tiki brand. In addition, you can offer your kitten snacks of raw or dehydrated liver, heart, or chicken gizzards, as well as greenies and Churu sticks as treats.
Health Guarantee
We offer a Health Guarantee for your kitten. The parents of your kitten have undergone genetic testing for HCM, SMA, PKDEF, Felv/FIV and have been found to be clear and not affected. They have also undergone echocardiograms on their hearts and OFA hip scans. However, please note that once your kitten leaves our premises, it may be exposed to various viruses, bacteria, or other diseases. We are not responsible for any illness that your kitten may develop as a result of exposure to other pets, the environment, or other factors beyond our control.
In the event that your kitten develops a genetic fault within the first year of its life that proves to be fatal, we will provide a replacement kitten at no additional cost to you when the next kitten becomes available (shipping costs are the buyer's responsibility). Please note that a post-mortem necropsy will be required, and the buyer must cover the expenses for this. Your veterinarian must also be willing to discuss their findings with us to validate this guarantee. We do not offer cash refunds under any circumstances.
Indoor Only or in a Protected Cat run
We have a strict policy of selling kittens only to buyers who commit to keeping them as indoor-only cats, or in a protected cat run. Cats can live a fulfilling and contented life indoors, provided they are given adequate toys, stimulation, companionship, and a nutritious diet. Alternatively, you can provide your cat with the best of both worlds by providing them with a secure enclosed outdoor catio or run.
However, we do require that the cat run is equipped with a protective barrier to safeguard your cat from feral cats and the diseases they may carry. This is a necessary precaution to ensure the health and well-being of your cat.
Declawing
We strictly prohibit declawing of our kittens. Under no circumstances should the buyer declaw the kitten or cat. If the buyer chooses to declaw the kitten or cat, ownership will be transferred back to the seller. Furthermore, any health guarantee will be voided if the kitten is declawed.
By agreeing to purchase our kitten, the buyer also agrees not to declaw the kitten. This policy is in place to ensure the well-being and welfare of our kittens.
Breeding and Spay or Neutering
When purchasing a kitten from us, you are agreeing to adopt a pet that must be spayed or neutered by 7 months of age. The Tica paperwork will also indicate that you do not have breeding rights for your kitten. Once your kitten's spay or neuter has been verified, you will receive Tica registration for your pet.
Please note that we do not offer breeding rights to our pet kittens. However, we do sell breeding quality kittens to approved breeders. If you are interested in purchasing a kitten for breeding purposes, please contact us for pricing and further information.
Price
To reserve the kitten of your choice, a non-refundable deposit fee of $500 and a signed contract will be required. The deposit fee will be credited towards the final price of the kitten. The full payment for the kitten must be made prior to pickup or shipping. If the buyer is unable to pick up the kitten, they are responsible for arranging transportation.
In the event that the buyer is unable to pick up the kitten on the arranged date, the breeder must be notified a week prior to the scheduled date to make proper arrangements. Please note that deposits are non-refundable, with no exceptions.
If the buyer decides that the kitten chosen at the time of deposit is not the right fit, the deposit is transferable to a different kitten with similar features (e.g. non-poly to non-poly, shell to other shell), as the price may vary between these features and colors.
However, the buyer must notify the breeder when the kitten is 10 weeks of age or younger to allow the seller time to find a new home for the kitten that was originally reserved.
Quarantine
After bringing your new kitten home or having it delivered, it is important to allow them time to adjust to their new surroundings and to their new family. To ensure the kitten's safety, the buyer must quarantine the kitten in a safe and quiet room for a minimum of a few days.
Please keep in mind that every kitten will adjust differently and will require time to adapt to their new environment. They have just left their home where they have spent their entire life and have also left their mother and siblings behind. This transition can be stressful and weaken their immune system, which may make them susceptible to illnesses.
To prevent this, the new owner must also keep the kitten away from any other cats that have not been vaccinated or tested for Felv/Fiv until the kitten has completed its vaccine series. This will help protect the kitten from any potential diseases and ensure their health and well-being.
